Sending Disaster Workers to Hurricane Lane Response and Recovery

Workers will help prepare and respond to Hurricane Lane

Denver, Wednesday, August 22,2018 – The American Red Cross of Colorado & Wyoming is sending disaster workers to help the people of Hawaii as they prepare for and respond to Hurricane Lane. According to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center, Hurricane Lane has the potential to cause significant damage to the Hawaiian Islands between August 23 and 24.

In anticipation of the forecasted track of the storm and the potential for significant damage the American Red Cross is deploying assets to the region to help with response and recovery.

The following disaster responders are being deployed to the region:

Clark Buck – Mile High Area – Disaster Mental Health Supervisor

Les Orson – Western Colorado Chapter – Disaster Mental Health Supervisor

Della Wilson – Western Colorado Chapter – Disaster Mental Health

Dennis Hoyt – Southeaster Colorado Chapter – Shelter Supervisor

Dana Goldsmith – Southeastern Colorado Chapter – Disability Integration Manager

Christina True – Wyoming Chapter – Disaster Health Services

A typical deployment for Red Cross disaster response is 14 to 21 days but is dependent on the needs of the community and the extent of response and recovery required.
