The front lines are a messy place to be but Everyday Hero, Michael Mitchell, keeps his composure amidst the chaos.

As a Texas nursing school student, Mitchell moved to Colorado after graduation and has loved finding his place in the Denver Metro area. Working as a dialysis nurse, Mitchell coordinates patient care and discharge procedures between multiple clinics. He accomplishes this while attending to those needing treatment and the myriad duties of a nurse. The number of patients being attended to has grown due to COVID-19 and he has anywhere from 12 to 24 patients under his care.

“My favorite part of my job would be the variety, getting to meet and work with patients all over the Denver area,” Mitchell stated. “And to make a difference in a time when people are scared.”

Mitchell believes that it all comes down to the people and what can be done to help by those in a position to do so. And when asked how anyone can be a hero every day, he stated It’s the small things. Just sit with someone and listen.”
