Nicole Kovacs is a true inspiration and passionate teacher that goes above and beyond what is expected. Nicole currently works with deaf and hard of hearing children in kindergarten through the 5th grade. Her inspiration as a teacher stemmed from her childhood experience in Florida when she was a young girl. She met a neighbor across the street who was deaf, and she wanted to play and draw chalk figures on the sidewalk together. They immediately built a lasting connection and are friends to this day. Her passion and kind heart drove her to pursue a teaching career with similar individuals to provide an excellent school experience for children with hearing loss. She wanted to provide an educational experience that she felt was lacking. During CovidNicole has worked with students both in-person and remotely. She has multiple meeting platforms every day that are in-person, online, and everything in between. She is dedicated to truly listening to her students and providing accessible lessons and programming.

When asked what a person could do to be a hero every day, she responded; “Showing up and paying attention to what others need. Its important to listen to others and help even if it’s as simple as assisting others at a grocery store. Simple acts go a long way to brighten someone’s day.”
