Ongoing Support Enables the Red Cross to Prepare for and Respond to Disasters
Today the American Red Cross recognizes The Ball Foundation for its longtime support of Red Cross disaster relief around the world.
The Ball Foundation, headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, has pledged $250,000 to support the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. Through this support, Ball is providing reliable funding in advance of disasters to enable immediate response across the U.S. when disaster strikes so that communities are safer and more sustainable over the long-term. Forward-thinking contributions from Disaster Responder Program members like Ball also ensured the Red Cross had the means to be ready to quickly pivot operations in the face of the coronavirus, creating new protocols to help keep local communities and our workforce safe in this rapidly developing environment.
Since 2017, Ball has contributed more than $2.5 million in cash and in-kind donations to the American Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies Disaster Relief Emergency Fund, which enables IFRC and Red Crescent Societies to provide immediate financial support to national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies when requested following disasters. Ball also has partnered with several customers to donate millions of cans of clean drinking water for disaster relief victims in North America.

“Every day, people across the country and around the world turn to the Red Cross for help in the face of emergencies,” said Koby Langley, senior vice president, International Services at the American Red Cross. “We are deeply grateful for the generous contributions made each year by The Ball Foundation, which power us with the critical resources necessary to prepare for and respond to disasters immediately, when help and hope are needed most.”
“Ball Corporation is proud to partner with the American Red Cross and IFRC to provide international relief to communities around the world,” says Chris Chavez, executive director of The Ball Foundation. “Now more than ever, we are proud to work with Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, to make a difference in the lives of those affected by emergencies.”
Each year, the Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters across the country, including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires.
