78 Colorado and Wyoming Volunteers Deployed on the Ground and Virtually
The American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming continue to provide services for those who have been affected by the Cameron Peak Fire in Larimer County, Colorado and the Mullen Fire in Albany County, Wyoming. To date, 78 disaster workers have deployed both on the ground and in person to provide support for those impacted by both fires.
CAMERON PEAK FIRE
The Red Cross continues to operate evacuation centers to assist residents who have been evacuated by the Cameron Peak fire. Red Cross volunteers are there and are prepared and ready to accommodate anyone needing information or other assistance. The Red Cross is currently providing lodging, food, medical and mental health support and emergency needs for individuals who have been impacted by the Cameron Peak fire.
We are following strict guidance from the CDC and public health authorities — and have put in place additional precautions to ensure the ongoing safety of our workforce and communities we serve during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Evacuation Center located at Cache La Poudre Middle School, 3515 Co Road 54G, LaPorte, CO.

MULLEN FIRE
The Red Cross continues to assist residents who have been evacuated by the Mullen fire. Red Cross volunteers are available and are prepared and ready to accommodate anyone needing information or other assistance. The Red Cross is currently providing lodging, food, medical and mental health support and emergency needs for individuals who have been impacted by the Mullen fire.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CAMERON PEAK AND MULLEN FIRES
COVID-19: The Red Cross has developed new policies to align with CDC safety recommendations and has created a series of virtual trainings and materials to ensure our disaster responders are aware of the changes and prepared to respond to disasters.
Ensuring people have a safe place to stay during a disaster is a critical part of the Red Cross mission, but how we support sheltering efforts during the pandemic may be different in each community, depending on local emergency operations plans. New COVID_19 protocols may include:
- Setting up a health screening process for everyone coming into the shelter
- Planning for setting up an isolation care area in the shelter
- Providing masks, tissues and plastic bags throughout the shelter
- Face coverings must be worn in all Red Cross shelters by both staff and residents
- Follow social distancing practices, as much as possible, by staggering meal times and adding extra spacing between cots, chairs, tables, etc.
- Providing additional handwashing stations, in addition to normal restroom facilities
- Increasing wellness checks to identify potential illness, including self-monitoring and checking temperatures of both shelter residents and staff
- Enhancing both cleaning and disinfecting practices throughout the shelter
Donations: Because of COVID-19 the Red Cross cannot accept material donations. The first priority for the Red Cross is to provide shelter and support to those affected, and financial donations or volunteering are the quickest and best way to get help to those who need it most.
