Hero Nominations Now Being Accepted

Colorado Springs, CO, Wednesday, December 3, 2019 – The American Red Cross of Southeastern Colorado Hometown Heroes Recognition Event for 2020 will be held Thursday, March 5, at the Antlers Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Heroes Recognition Event is an important fundraiser for the American Red Cross of Southeastern Colorado. Event information is available at www.redcross.org/colorado.

Join us as we celebrate our own local heroes who have exemplified the mission of the Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.

How can I nominate a hero? The Red Cross is actively accepting nominations for recognition. Exceptional nominees may have saved a life, provided compassionate humanitarian service to those in need, been dedicated to preparing for or preventing disasters, providing support to members of our military, or be a member of the armed forces who saved lives through their actions.

Hometown heroes do not have to be individuals. They can be groups, companies, organizations, children or even pets! It’s easy to submit a nomination on line at https://www.redcross.org/coloradoheronominate. Hero nomination is open until December 30, 2019.

Hero Categories
Adult Hero: (Age 18 and Over) Presented for a courageous or life-saving-response that made an exceptional difference in or saved the lives of others.
Youth Hero: (Age 18 and Under) Presented for a compassionate response or life-saving skills that made an exceptional difference in or saved the lives of others.
Military Hero: Presented to a member of the armed forces (active, guard, reserve, retired, or military spouse) whose actions went above and beyond the call of duty.
Animal Hero: Presented to an animal whose trained or innate skills helped save a life OR an individual OR nonprofit that performed extraordinary service related to the protection and safety of animals.
Community Service Hero: Presented to an individual who has performed an extraordinary community service that has made a difference in the lives of others.
Community Partner Hero: Presented to a business or organization whose compassion or life-saving actions made an extraordinary difference in the lives of others.
First Responder Hero: Presented to a First Responder (Police, Fire or EMS) or First Response Organization (Volunteer, Paid, Combined or Military) whose actions went above and beyond the call of duty to save a life or whose personal commitment to their local community has made an extraordinary difference in the lives of others.
