Denver, Monday, April 22, 2019– The American Red Cross of Colorado & Wyoming is sending disaster volunteers to help the people of Mississippi that were devastated by tornadoes.
Tom Bethke, a volunteer with the American Red Cross of the Mile High Area, will deploy to Mississippi to support our disaster assessment efforts as we help people recover from the disaster.
Tony Bender, a volunteer with the Red Cross of Southeastern Colorado, will deploy to Mississippi as part of the Disaster Assessment Team helping evaluate storm damage.
John Miller, a volunteer with the Red Cross of the Mile High Area, has been assigned to the Mississippi disaster in a virtual capacity. John will be working from home to help the Disaster Assessment Team track damaged homes in the area hit hardest by tornadoes.
Red Cross volunteers in Mississippi and beyond are spending the Easter holiday helping people recover from severe weather and other disasters like home fires. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones in the recent storms. Red Cross disaster workers opened a shelter and expect to deploy emergency response vehicles, help with damage assessment and provide food, support services, relief supplies and help people recover as soon as it is safe to do so. The Red Cross is working with officials to determine what additional support people may need.
