MillerCoors employees put their own lives in danger to rescue a woman from an icy creek.
If eight MillerCoors employees had not come to the rescue, a woman would be dead after getting stuck on one of Colorado’s turbulent waterways.
For their heroic and lifesaving acts, James Shrider, Christian Zelenak, Lori Peterson, Sean Nash, Louis Gomez, Jacqueline Harman, Michael Harris and Richard “Bubba” Langley received the American Red Cross Adult Lifesaving Award at the American Red Cross Heroes Soiree last Saturday, February 29, 2020.
The American Red Cross Heroes Soiree is a celebration of the Red Cross spirit as exemplified in lifesaving heroes in Colorado.
The employees are all being hailed heroes after jumping into Clear Creek to save a woman swept up in the current in June. The group of employees heard a woman screaming. She was coming down the creek on a pool float and due to the fast-moving current was unable to swim safely to shore. They quickly created a human chain and were able to stop the woman before she hit the eight-foot drop at the dam. When she was rescued, the woman was starting to show signs of problems with hypothermia and was in shock. The group started preforming lifesaving and safety measures until EMT arrived on scene.
