The giving season in Colorado is officially underway! The mission of the American Red Cross is to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. This holiday season, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has made giving easy through their Light the World Giving Machines.
“We love the Red Cross,” said Sarah Hill, with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. “We just want to help people and we know the Red Cross does great work with that and we just want to be partners and help fulfill the mission.
On Thursday, November 16th, Denver Mayor Mike Johnson was on hand to unveil the Giving Machine in Cherry Creek North shopping center. There are five local and two international charities, including the Red Cross.
The machine is on the corner of Fillmore and 2nd in Cherry Creek. It’s located right next to the Cherry Creek Holiday Market. This is the 5th year the machine has been in Denver. Over the last three years, $1.6 million has been collected for various charities.
“The really beautiful thing is that we see that it’s open to anybody,” said Sarah. “You don’t have to donate $500 to make a difference. To see our local community members really feel like they’re a part of something and a part of helping and lifting those around them, that’s the beauty and miracle of the Giving Machines.”
For more than 100 years, the Church has supported the Red Cross across many facets of our mission, including disaster response, biomedical services and international programs.
By visiting the Giving Machines at Cherry Creek North, you can give help and hope to people in need this holiday season, including hot meals, shelter and infant care kits for families affected by disasters, comfort items for veterans and vaccinations for children around the globe.
