Red Cross Month – March 2020

Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis and Governor of Wyoming, Mark Gordon declare March as Red Cross Month

Now is the time to become a volunteer

Story by Miyana Shively, The American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming

The observation of March as Red Cross Month serves as a call to action to anyone who has the ability or time to give to their community. Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis and Governor of Wyoming, Mark Gordon, proclaim March as Red Cross Month. Every United States President since 1943 has declared March as Red Cross Month as well.

Now is an ideal time to get involved. You can develop a preparedness plan with members of your household in the event of an emergency. You can become a Red Cross volunteer, 0r you can give a financial donation to Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming.

The Red Cross responds to a community disaster every eight minutes and provides necessities such as shelter, food, and emotional support to those affected by disasters such as home fires, blizzard, hurricane and more. Over 90 percent of the work force is powered by volunteers who are trained in first aid, water safety and other skills that can make all the difference in times of need. At least 14,000 units of blood are collected every day to support the needs of those across the United States. And the Red Cross supports the vaccination of children around the globe.
You can become part of the support services that your community depends on, by becoming a volunteer. If you are interested in becoming part of our incredible volunteer workforce, please visit the Volunteer page for more information.
