Red Cross Opens Evacuation Center As New Fire Threatens Rifle Community
The Red Cross of Colorado Opens Evacuation Center due to Fire on Hwy 325 Near the Rifle Fish Hatchery
The American Red Cross of Western Colorado has opened an evacuation center in Rifle, Colorado to assist residents who have been evacuated because of the fire near the Rifle Fish Hatchery.
The evacuation center is located at Rifle High School, 1350 Prefontaine Ave, Rifle, CO 81650. Red Cross volunteers are there and are prepared and ready to accommodate anyone needing information or other assistance. They will also have access to emergency supplies and support.
The coronavirus pandemic puts additional stress on families seeking support, which is why we have plans in place to reduce risks—such as social distancing protocols, face coverings, health screenings. The safety of our workforce and the communities we serve continues to be our priority. The Red Cross follows all CDC guidance, and we work closely with local health officials to safely provide help and hope when disasters strike.
Services and support, from the Red Cross, its volunteers and our community partners, will continue as it is needed in order to help the individuals impacted by this tragic event to ensure they can recover and rebuild their lives.

I am a redcross partner with CHILDREN’S DISASTER SERVICES. Ms. De Witt would normally contact us to provide child care in a FAC or SHELTER etc. if many children are involved. At this time, since those situations are different, CDS is providing mini kits of comfort to families that are being sheltered out of their homes. Please let me know if that is a need at this time and i would contact our headquarters .
Thank you!
