Sending Disaster Responders and Vehicles to South Texas

Denver, Wednesday, July 3, 2019 – The American Red Cross of Colorado & Wyoming is sending additional disaster responders to help people in Harlingen, Texas after persistent heavy rain produced severe flooding. The Red Cross has three shelters open in the area and Red Cross disaster trained responders have mobilized to provide relief and comfort to impacted families.

In addition, two Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and drivers are being sent to south Texas to support the delivery of food and recovery supplies to the homes flooded in the three counties along the Texas border.

The ERV from the Southeastern Colorado Chapter will depart at 8 AM Friday, June 5, 2019 from the Southeast Colorado Chapter facility, 1040 S. 8th St. Colorado Springs. This will be the maiden voyage for this Next Generation ERV that is stationed at the Southeastern Colorado Chapter in Colorado Springs.

The ERV from the Mile High Area Chapter in Denver will depart at 8 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from the Miler High Chapter facility at 444 Sherman St. Denver, CO 80203.

Christina True – a volunteer Red Cross nurse from Wyoming will deploy to Harlingen, TX to support Disaster Health Services.

William Delaney – a volunteer with the Wyoming Chapter will deploy to Harlingen, TX to support the team of caseworkers supporting recovery in Texas.

Jenny Roberts – a volunteer with the Red Cross of Western Colorado will deploy to Harlingen, TX to support staff services.

Tony Suarez – the Disaster Program Manager from the Red Cross of Northern Colorado will deploy to Harlingen, TXas part of the Operations Management Team.
