Emergencies do not stop even amid our current health crisis. The Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming has not changed its mission to people who live in our communities; it has, however, changed how we do our mission. Every day, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers continue to meet the needs of individuals and families who have suffered from disasters.
This week, our incredible Disaster Cycle Services staff out of the Mile-High office, located in Denver, worked hard to help fulfill the needs of some of our community partners, who are all working hard to help support people during this time. We received a request for support for 30 cots and 160 comfort kits. Comfort kits are small kits filled with all the necessary supplies someone might need, in times of a disaster. It has a comb, toothbrush, deodorant, washcloth and other important and necessary toiletry items.
On Wednesday, our dedicated team worked to load trucks, deliver and unload supplies to help with support for COVID19 missions and care for people across the Denver Metro area. Dozens of people in Colorado will be supported through these efforts.
A big thank you goes out to United Way for reaching out and letting us know how we can help. We also want to thank our incredible employees and volunteers who are working hard despite the challenging time we are in to make sure people across our region are getting the care, comfort and support they need during this uncertain time.
