Ashley Turner has been with the American Red Cross since September 2014. She began her Red Cross journey as the Volunteer Engagement Lead and Volunteer Partner to Disaster Program Specialist. In February of 2017, she became the Disaster Workforce Engagement Manger of the Mile High chapter. She has been deployed to 9 disaster response operations, including the California Fires in October 2017.
Ashley is embarking on her next big responsibility for the Red Cross. She was nominated for and approved to be the new Co-Chair for the Colorado Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (COVOAD). Eric Myers, interim Disaster Cycle Services Officer and Executive Director for the Red Cross of Western Colorado proudly acknowledges that, “Ashley is the perfect fit for this position with her regional focus and her knowledge of the capacities of our volunteer workforce and how we mobilize our teams to support our larger disaster mission.” The COVOAD Executive Committee had resounding support for Ashley and was impressed with her willingness to jump into this new role.
COVOAD is the Colorado state chapter of National Voluntary Agencies Active in Disasters (NVOAD). It consists of organizations active in disaster response throughout the state of Colorado. COVOAD’s role is to bring organizations together, enable them to understand each other and work together in a cohesive manner.
As an expert in volunteer mobilization for disaster support, Ashley will represent the American Red Cross of Colorado, sharing her extensive knowledge with our COVAD partners. She will continue to build relationships and collaborate with other organizations active in disaster response throughout the state of Colorado.
