Red Cross of Wyoming had an active year in 2022, responding to 71 single family and multifamily incidents, including both fires and floods.
A total of 243 clients, including 91 children were given immediate assistance, which can include funds for lodging, clothing,food and other immediate needs. Fifty-one clients requested Disaster Mental Health or Spiritual Care assistance, and 45 needed Disaster Health Services to assist with medical needs.
The American Red Cross also provides training to help people prepare for and prevent disasters before they happen. In 2022, Wyoming Red Cross reached 382 people through the Be Red Cross Ready programs, Hands-Only CPR, Ready Rating for businesses and Active Threat Preparedness programs. The Pillowcase program and Prepare with Pedro projects made 351 elementary aged students more prepared to prevent home fires and gave them the knowledge about what to do in the event of a fire in their home.
Through the Home Fire Campaign, Wyoming Red Cross made 170 homes across the state safer, installing 342 smoke alarms at no charge to residents and reaching 397 people, including 87 youth, 112 seniors and 31 veterans. The Home Fire Campaign is a national program designed to insure all homes have working smoke alarms and receive fire safety education.
