Red Cross Closes Evacuation Center but Continues Fire Relief in Colorado

The Red Cross of Colorado Closes Evacuation Center in Glenwood

The American Red Cross of Colorado is closing an evacuation center in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The center is located at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, at 100 Wolfsohn Road, Glenwood Springs.

Red Cross volunteers have been stationed there to accommodate anyone needing information or other assistance. As the fire has shifted, the evacuation center has not been heavily used. It will close after 6pm TODAY until/if it is needed again.

The Red Cross of Colorado continues to provide resources to the four large fires burning throughout Colorado at this time. If anyone in the community needs assistance, please call the Western Colorado Red Cross chapter at number (970) 242-4851 and press option #1.

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the way the Red Cross responds to disasters in Colorado. The pandemic puts additional stress on families seeking support, which is why we have plans in place to reduce risks—such as social distancing protocols, face coverings, health screenings. The safety of our workforce and the communities we serve continues to be our priority. The Red Cross follows all CDC guidance, and we work closely with local health officials to safely provide help and hope when disasters strike.

Services and support, from the Red Cross, its volunteers and our community partners, will continue as it is needed in order to help the individuals impacted to ensure they can recover. If anyone in the community needs assistance, please call the Western Colorado Red Cross chapter at number (970) 242-4851 and press option #1.
