Step Three – Be Informed

At the American Red Cross, we believe that being informed is one of the best ways to keep you and your family safe from imminent disasters. The Red Cross offers a multitude of different apps for your mobile device to keep you informed and better prepared for any emergency that may come your way.

First Aid App

The First Aid app provides advice for any medical situation or emergency you may find yourself in. Whether it is a sting, scratch, broken bone or a life-threatening emergency, this app will help you know what the appropriate actions to take are, as well as providing directions to your nearest hospital. The app also has quizzes to test your knowledge and learn what to do if your mobile device is not with you to reference.

Disaster Apps

Natural disasters can strike at any time. With our disaster apps, you will be notified when a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado or flood is headed your way. The app will also advise you about what to do before, during and after a disaster has struck. We currently offer these disaster apps:

More than 35 weather and disaster alerts.

Alerts you if the NOAA issues a tornado watch or warning for anywhere.

Check your local hurricane conditions and track the storm.

Notifications for when an earthquake has struck and where to get help.

Learn about and prepare for floods.

.

Blood App

There is always a constant need for blood donations. With this app, you can schedule blood donation appointments with the American Red Cross. Every time you donate blood, you are saving up to three lives.

.

Monster Guard

It is crucial to be prepared for disasters at any age. This app is a fun interactive app for kids to learn what natural disasters are and what to do in the event of a disaster to stay safe.
